Television actor Vibhu Raghave, known for his roles in "Nisha Aur Uske Cousins," "Suvreen Guggal," and "Rhythm," passed away on June 2nd, after a prolonged battle with stage four colon cancer. He was 37 years old. Diagnosed in 2022, Vibhu had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital. Despite the severity of his condition, he remained active on social media, sharing updates about his journey. In one of his last videos, he revealed the cancer had spread to his liver, spine, bones, and lungs, but he remained hopeful.
The news of his death was confirmed by actors Kaveri Priyam and Karan Veer Mehra. Close friends and industry colleagues expressed their grief and shared details about his funeral. Actor Addite Malik, a close friend, shared an emotional tribute online: “The purest soul, a beacon of strength & positivity. His smile could light up any room & his presence alone made everything feel better. He faced life with unmatched grace & left behind a love that will never fade. He will be deeply missed. Always.” She also shared funeral details, inviting friends and well-wishers to pay their respects at his family home in Jogeshwari, Mumbai.
Actor Nakuul Mehta was among those who attended the funeral to pay their respects. Many other friends and colleagues from the television industry were present to offer condolences to Vibhu's family and celebrate his life.
Throughout his illness, Vibhu remained transparent about the challenges he faced. He used his platform to talk about cancer, treatments, and its emotional toll. In his last Instagram post, dating back to mid-April, Vibhu spoke to the camera about his cancer battle, informing fans that a PET scan had revealed that his cancer had spread from his liver to his lungs and spine. He had captioned the post, "A day at a time." "We started chemotherapy in January, and after four rounds, I went for a scan. Sadly, we found out the treatment was not working, and the cancer was spreading," said Vibhu. With a smile, Vibhu added that he was in the middle of a new treatment and keeping his fingers crossed.
In recent months, Vibhu's close friends, including Addite, Simple Kaul, Mohit Malik, and Anjali Anand, launched a crowdfunding campaign to help cover his rising medical costs. Anjali Anand also paid tribute to Vibhu, remembering him as a kind, spirited, and vibrant soul.
Vibhu is survived by his mother, Anupama Raghav, and his siblings Aishwarya Raghave and Garima Singh Tyagi. His father, Ravindra Kumar Singh, passed away earlier. The antim darshan was held on June 3rd, followed by a funeral procession from his family home in Jogeshwari West, Mumbai.
Vibhu's passing leaves a significant void in the Indian television community, with many remembering him as a kind, spirited, and vibrant soul. Saumya Tandon also paid a touching tribute, saying, “You were a fighter till the very end — a real warrior… I'll miss you forever.”
