Aamir Khan has confirmed that he will be collaborating with acclaimed Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a superhero film. The highly anticipated project is expected to commence production in the latter half of 2026. This announcement has generated immense excitement among fans, as it brings together two prominent figures known for their distinctive storytelling styles and impressive box office success.
Khan, during a recent media interaction, stated, "Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It's a superhero film — a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further."
Kanagaraj is known for directing action films such as "Kaithi," "Master," and "Vikram". Khan's experience in the genre includes "Ghulam", "Baazi", "Ghajini", and "Dhoom 3".
Industry insiders are speculating that this superhero film could be "Irumbu Kai Mayavi," a project that was initially considered for Suriya. However, Tamil fans have expressed their disappointment that Lokesh Kanagaraj chose to work with Aamir Khan, especially since his recent films have not performed well at the box office.
Before embarking on this superhero venture, both Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj have existing commitments to fulfill. Kanagaraj is scheduled to start working on "Kaithi 2" with Karthi, following the release of his upcoming film "Coolie." Aamir Khan, on the other hand, will be focusing on completing the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Khan will also appear in Lokesh Kanagaraj's "Coolie," starring Rajinikanth, which is slated for release on August 14.
In addition to the superhero film and the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, Aamir Khan has several other projects in the pipeline. His film "Sitaare Zameen Par," is set to release on June 20. The film is inspired by the Spanish movie "Campeones" and stars Aamir as a coach. He is also in talks with Telugu director Vamshi Paidipally for a potential collaboration, which would be produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations.
Khan has clarified that rumors about a sequel to his film "PK" are unfounded. He is also preparing for an ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic "Mahabharata," which he considers a long-term dream.
Aamir Khan's decision to collaborate with Lokesh Kanagaraj on a superhero film marks a new chapter in his career. Fans eagerly anticipate further details about this project and are excited to witness the outcome of this collaboration between two talented filmmakers.
