The honeymoon murder case in Meghalaya has taken a disturbing turn with new details emerging about the alleged involvement of the victim's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, in plotting his death. Raja Raghuvanshi, from Indore, was found dead in a gorge after he and Sonam went missing during their honeymoon. Sonam has since been arrested, along with her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, and three others, all accused of conspiring in Raja's murder.
According to reports, Sonam was in a relationship with Raj Kushwaha, a former employee, and they allegedly conspired to eliminate Raja. Raja's brother, Vipin Raghuwanshi, revealed that Sonam had confided in her mother about her affair with Raj prior to her marriage. She allegedly warned her mother that if she was forced to marry Raja, she wouldn't be responsible for what might happen afterward. However, her family reportedly insisted on the marriage taking place within their community, disregarding her feelings and concerns.
Sources indicate that Sonam and Raj Kushwaha had been communicating about their plans to get rid of Raja. In one message, Sonam expressed her discomfort with Raja getting intimate with her and conveyed her desire to "eliminate" him. The couple got married on May 11th, and according to sources, by May 16th, Sonam had already conspired with her lover to eliminate Raja, seeing him as an obstacle to her relationship with Raj.
The couple arrived in Shillong for their honeymoon on May 21st. Just a day later, three contract killers arrived in Shillong, as per the timeline shared by the police. On May 23rd, Raja was brutally murdered, and his body was discovered in a deep gorge. The autopsy report revealed multiple sharp injuries on his body, including major wounds to the head.
After the murder, Sonam allegedly fled to Indore, where she reunited with Raj Kushwaha. They then traveled to Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, where Sonam was eventually apprehended. Police investigations revealed CCTV footage showing Sonam speaking to the alleged hitmen and call detail records that led them to Raj Kushwaha.
Sonam's father has rejected the murder charges, claiming that his daughter is being framed by the Meghalaya police and demanding a CBI probe. However, the police have gathered substantial evidence, including chats between Sonam and Raj, CCTV footage, and the autopsy report, which point towards a premeditated murder.
The case has sparked outrage and disbelief, with many questioning how a newlywed could allegedly plot her husband's murder within days of their marriage. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and bring all those involved to justice.
