The recently released "Housefull 5," directed by Tarun Mansukhani, is facing plagiarism accusations concerning the dance steps in the song "Laal Pari." Sandip Brahamin, a popular social media influencer with 2.5 million followers, has claimed that the song, choreographed by Remo D'Souza, has copied his signature dance move without giving him credit.
Brahmin posted a video on Instagram comparing his dance move to the one performed in "Laal Pari," highlighting the similarities. In the video, Brahamin stated that many of his followers contacted him after noticing the alleged plagiarism. He noted that the "Laal Pari" song featured a move identical to his signature step, which involves wearing a hat and shaking the head in rhythm. He also mentioned that he found no credit or mention of his name on Instagram or YouTube regarding the dance move.
"You all have seen my signature moves. My move has been copied in Housefull 5 song Laal Pari. Many of my friends DMed me on Instagram. Therefore, I rechecked on Instagram and YouTube. They've neither mentioned me nor have they given me credit. I don't know what is happening,” Brahamin said in his video. He urged his followers to share the video to support his claim.
The "Laal Pari" song, written, composed, and sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh, features the entire cast of "Housefull 5" dancing on a cruise. The song was released on May 3rd, and Brahamin shared his video on the same day. However, the issue gained traction after "Housefull 5" was released in theaters on June 6th.
Social media users have reacted to Brahamin's claims with mixed opinions. Some users agreed with Brahamin, stating that they recognized the move as his signature step from the beginning. Others argued that it was a common dance move that anyone could perform.
Despite the plagiarism allegations and mixed reviews, "Housefull 5" has performed well at the box office, grossing over Rs 140 crore. The film boasts a large ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, and Sanjay Dutt.
Neither Remo D'Souza nor the team behind "Housefull 5" has responded to the allegations. The choreographer and the film's director, Tarun Mansukhani, have yet to release a statement addressing the issue. As of now, the director is yet to comment on the claims of plagiarism. The lack of response from the team has left the issue unresolved, leaving fans and followers to speculate.
This isn't the first time "Housefull 5" has faced controversy. Prior to this, the film was embroiled in another plagiarism row after "Kesari 2" allegedly used a poem without proper credit. The current allegations against "Laal Pari" have further ignited the debate around creative plagiarism in the entertainment industry.
