The Malayalam film industry is gearing up for a unique action entertainer with the commencement of filming for "Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies." Starring Roshan Mathew and Arjun Ashokan, this movie dives into the underground world of WWE-style wrestling in Fort Kochi, promising a blend of high-energy action, drama, and local flavor. Directed by debutant Adhvaith Nayar, "Chatha Pacha" aims to redefine Malayalam cinema with its fresh narrative and cultural crossover.

The film's story revolves around a hidden wrestling club, drawing inspiration from the spectacle of WWE. Set against the backdrop of Fort Kochi, known for its cultural richness and chaotic energy, "Chatha Pacha" explores the lives of those who find themselves immersed in this underground world. According to the makers, the film is about misfits, ex-convicts, and outcasts who try to rebuild their lives by creating an underground wrestling club. What begins as a small fight club soon evolves into a grand spectacle, attracting huge crowds and turning the fighters into local icons. Inspired by their childhood WWE heroes, the characters create larger-than-life personas and intense rivalries, staging electrifying matches.

Roshan Mathew, known for his versatile performances, expressed his excitement about venturing into this new genre. "I've never done anything like this before," he stated. "The world of wrestling entertainment is as intense emotionally as it is physically. I'm thrilled to dive into this space with 'Chatha Pacha.'" His enthusiasm highlights the film's potential to deliver a compelling story that goes beyond just physical action.

Adding to the film's allure is the debut of the renowned music composer trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy in Malayalam cinema. Their involvement promises a soundtrack that will "pack a punch," blending the soul of Kochi with the madness of WWE wrestling. Mujeeb Majeed, known for his work in "Kishkindha Kaandam," will compose the background score, with lyrics penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.

The technical crew includes Anend C Chandran as the cinematographer, Praveen Prabhakar as the editor, and Kalai Kingson as the action choreographer, ensuring a visually stunning and action-packed experience. Costume designer Melwy J and makeup artist Ronex Xavier are shaping the creative look and feel of the film, while Sunil Das manages the art direction. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Sanoop Thykoodam, with the story conceptualized by Adhvaith Nayar.

"Chatha Pacha" is produced by Ritesh S Ramakrishnan and Shihan Shoukath under the Reel World Entertainment banner, with George Sebastian and Sunil Singh of Mammootty Kampany serving as executive and line producers. The film also features Vishak Nair and Ishan Shoukath in pivotal roles, and the makers have hinted at the inclusion of well-known actors from other Indian film industries, further enhancing its pan-Indian appeal.

Currently in production in Fort Kochi with a schedule of 60 days, "Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies" is slated for release towards the end of 2025. The film aims to offer a unique blend of high-energy wrestling sequences, humor, and a gripping underdog story, promising to be a cultural crossover that resonates with audiences. With its blend of local storytelling and the universal appeal of wrestling entertainment, "Chatha Pacha" is poised to be a game-changer in Malayalam cinema.
