Kalpika Ganesh, a Telugu actress, has recently been embroiled in a controversy following an incident at Prism Pub in Hyderabad. The Gachibowli police have booked her for allegedly misbehaving with the pub staff and causing property damage on May 29. The case was officially registered on June 10, 2025, after a complaint was filed by Deepak Bajaj, the managing partner of Prism Club & Kitchen.
Kalpika Ganesh is a Hyderabad-based actress who began her career as a model. Born on May 27, 1991, she made her debut in the Telugu film industry with the movie 'Prayanam' in 2009, directed by Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. She has since appeared in several Telugu and Tamil films, including 'Orange', 'Julayi', 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu', 'Padi Padi Leche Manasu', 'HIT: The First Case', and 'Yashoda'. In 2022, she debuted in the Tamil film industry with 'Parole'. Besides films, Kalpika has also acted in web series such as 'Ekkadiki Ee Parugu' and 'Loser'. She also directed a short film titled 'Perfect Coffee'. She holds a BA degree from Vivekananda College in Secunderabad. Kalpika is active on Instagram, with a following of over 57,000.
According to reports, the incident at Prism Pub began when Kalpika, accompanied by a male guest, visited the establishment and consumed food and beverages worth Rs 2,200. The dispute arose when she refused to pay for a cheesecake, insisting that it should be complimentary, similar to practices in other clubs. Although the staff offered a complimentary brownie as a gesture of goodwill, she allegedly refused to pay for the cheesecake.
The situation reportedly escalated, with Kalpika allegedly verbally abusing the staff, including the general manager and deputy general manager, and making body-shaming remarks. The complaint further stated that she threw plates, damaged property, and used abusive language. The management also accused her of going live on Instagram during the incident, making false allegations, and defaming the staff and their families. Even in the presence of the police, she reportedly refused to cooperate and verbally abused the officers, calling them "corrupt".
Following the complaint, the police registered a case against Kalpika under Sections 352 (assault or criminal force), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been launched into the matter. A video capturing part of the incident has also gone viral on social media, showing a heated exchange between Kalpika and the pub staff.
This isn't the first time Kalpika Ganesh has been involved in a dispute at Prism Pub. Earlier in June 2025, another incident occurred where she allegedly had an argument with the staff over bringing an outside cake for her birthday celebration. The pub staff refused her request, citing their policy, which led to a heated argument.
