Manasvi Mamgai is an Indian model, actress, producer, and activist who has transitioned from the world of beauty pageants and Bollywood to making her mark in Hollywood. Born in Delhi and raised in Chandigarh, she demonstrated exceptional talent from a young age, securing approximately 50 state and national awards in dancing, singing, and skating by the age of 15.
Mamgai's journey into the spotlight began with her win at the Elite Model Look India in 2006. This led to her debut at India Fashion Week. She further solidified her position in the fashion world by winning the Miss Tourism International title in 2008. Her career reached a new height when she was crowned Femina Miss India in 2010, earning her the opportunity to represent India at the Miss World pageant in China that same year, where she was among the top eight finalists in the "Dances of the World" segment.
Following her success in pageantry, Mamgai ventured into acting. She is an alumnus of Anupam Kher's acting school in Mumbai. In 2012, she participated in a critically acclaimed movement-based play titled "LIMBO," which was showcased at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai and screened in Paris. The same year, she appeared in the documentary "The World Before Her". In 2014, she played the antagonist, Marina, in the Bollywood film "Action Jackson," opposite Ajay Devgn and directed by Prabhu Deva. She even made an appearance on the Indian comedy show "Comedy Nights with Kapil" alongside her "Action Jackson" castmates. In 2015, she received a nomination for Best Debutant at the Filmfare Awards, where she also served as a presenter.
In recent years, Manasvi has expanded her presence in the entertainment industry. In 2023, she had a recurring role in the Hulu series "The Trial," and she participated as a contestant on India's popular reality show "Bigg Boss" during the 2023/24 season. She also starred in a short film executive produced by Anurag Kashyap and played a leading role in a Jio Cinema series released in 2024, which is available on Prime Video.
Currently residing in Los Angeles, Manasvi is actively pursuing acting and producing opportunities in Hollywood. A significant milestone in her producing career is the film "Captivated," which she is producing under her banner, 32RED Entertainment, a production company she co-founded in 2021 with Michael Mammoliti.
"Captivated" is a high-stakes thriller inspired by true events, directed by Dito Montiel. The film tells the story of Saro, a Calabrian mafia boss who kidnaps the grandson of billionaire Jean Paul Getty. The situation becomes complicated when Saro develops an emotional connection with the boy's mother, Abigail Harris. The film stars Al Pacino, Katie Holmes, and Toby Kebbell and is scheduled for release in 2025.
In a notable event, Manasvi Mamgai and Al Pacino were recently welcomed by Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, marking a spiritual commencement for "Captivated." This meeting signifies the film's ambitious nature and highlights the unique collaboration between the film industry and the Vatican. Manasvi described the experience as a "once-in-a-lifetime" moment and felt deeply meaningful as an Indian-origin producer.
