As Operation Sindhu continues to bring Indian nationals home from Iran amidst escalating tensions in the Middle East, evacuees are expressing profound gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi and the Indian government for prioritizing their safety and well-being. The operation, launched in response to increased hostilities between Israel and Iran, has seen hundreds of Indians, including students and workers, airlifted to safety, with many describing the experience as a testament to the government's commitment to its citizens abroad.

The successful execution of Operation Sindhu has not only provided relief to those stranded in conflict zones but has also fostered a deep sense of connection and reassurance among the Indian diaspora. Many evacuees have lauded the swift and efficient response of the Indian Embassy in Tehran, which has been instrumental in assisting nationals to move from high-risk areas to safer locations and coordinating their evacuation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also been commended for its 24/7 control room, providing crucial support and guidance to those seeking assistance.

The heartfelt appreciation for Prime Minister Modi stems from a perception that his administration views every Indian citizen as a member of one large family. This sentiment resonates strongly with those who have experienced the anxiety and uncertainty of being caught in a foreign conflict. The government's proactive approach, including the operation of special flights from Mashhad, Yerevan and Ashgabat, and the willingness to work with Iranian authorities to secure safe passage, has reinforced this belief.

Adding to the sense of gratitude is the special gesture by Iran in opening its airspace to facilitate India's evacuation efforts. This cooperation between the two nations underscores the importance of diplomatic relations in ensuring the safety and security of citizens during times of crisis. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association released a statement expressing their thanks to the Indian government, the Ministry of External Affairs, and all involved parties for their prompt intervention and support, acknowledging the great relief felt by families anxiously awaiting the return of their loved ones.

As of June 22, 2025, Operation Sindhu has successfully brought home over 1,713 Indian nationals from Iran. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita announced plans for three additional evacuation flights from Iran within the next few days. The evacuees come from various states, including Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The MEA has also stated that 162 Indian nationals have crossed the border into Jordan and will be repatriated to India soon.

The success of Operation Sindhu highlights the Indian government's capability to respond effectively to emergencies and its dedication to protecting its citizens, no matter where they are. The gratitude expressed by the evacuees underscores the importance of such initiatives in strengthening the bond between the government and its people, reinforcing the idea that every Indian is valued and cared for as part of a global family.
