Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached the immovable property of a terror accused in the Udhampur district on Monday, June 23, 2025. The accused is currently under judicial custody. The property, 1.3 marla of land (approximately 353 square feet), is located in Kadwah village of Basantgarh and was seized under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The land is identified as Khasra No. 232, and the seizure is connected to FIR No. 23/2024. Authorities have legally barred any sale, lease, or transfer of the property.
The attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the UAPA after investigations linked the property to terror-related activities. The accused, Mohammad Shafiq, was arrested last year for his connections to terrorists, and a case under the UAPA is registered against him at the Basantgarh police station. The land, valued in lakhs of rupees, is now officially attached and restricted from being sold, leased, transferred, or involved in any third-party transactions.
This action is part of a broader effort by the Jammu and Kashmir Police to disrupt terror funding channels and logistical support in the region. Basantgarh, a remote forest area, has witnessed several encounters between terrorists and security forces in recent years.
In related news, the crackdown on terror networks and their supporters continues, with properties belonging to three terror accused in Udhampur and Handwara being attached over the past three days. Furthermore, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been granted a five-day remand for two individuals arrested in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack case. Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmed were presented before a Jammu court, and the next hearing is scheduled for June 27, 2025.
