The Punjab Police have successfully dismantled a Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed terror module of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), leading to the arrest of three individuals, including a 17-year-old juvenile. The operation was carried out by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali.
According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the terror module was operated by Nishan Singh, based in the UK, under the direction of Harwinder Singh Rinda, a designated terrorist operating from Pakistan. The group was allegedly planning attacks on police establishments and targeted killings in the Amritsar area. DGP Yadav stated that a major terror plot had been foiled, preventing potential loss of innocent lives.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sehajpal Singh and Vikramjit Singh, both residents of Ramdas in Amritsar Rural, along with a juvenile. Authorities seized a cache of weapons from the suspects, including two hand grenades, a 9mm Glock pistol, and live cartridges. The recovery of these high-grade explosives and a sophisticated firearm indicates the severity of the averted tragedy.
During the interrogation, Sehajpal Singh confessed to working under the instructions of Lovepreet Singh, an associate of BKI currently incarcerated in Ferozepur jail.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the SSOC police station in Mohali under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Explosives Act. The police have initiated further investigations to determine the extent of the module's network and potential future threats. Additional arrests and seizures are expected as the investigation progresses.
The Punjab Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue supporting their efforts to maintain a secure environment in Punjab.
