Elliot Page, the Oscar-nominated actor known for roles in "Juno" and "Inception," has publicly announced his relationship with actress Julia Shiplett. The announcement coincides with Pride Month, adding a special layer of joy to the occasion.
Page, 38, shared a photo on Instagram of himself and Shiplett, also 38, cuddling on a rainbow-painted street. The caption included a rainbow emoji and a double-heart emoji. Shiplett, who stars in the Amazon Prime sitcom "Overcompensating," also posted a photo on her Instagram story of a shirtless Page in a hot spring, with the caption "Happy prideee".
This marks Page's first public relationship since coming out as a transgender man in December 2020. Page's journey has been one of self-discovery and advocacy. He was previously married to dancer and choreographer Emma Portner, but they separated in 2020. He has also been linked to actresses Olivia Thirlby and Kate Mara in the past.
In a 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Page spoke about feeling more relaxed and connected while dating after his transition. He stated that he was having "the most fun I've ever had dating" and that interacting with people felt "so much easier and more connected, because I'm not feeling lost in myself and not seen in the right way".
Shiplett plays Mimi in "Overcompensating," a comedy series on Prime Video.
Page is currently filming Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," alongside a star-studded cast including Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong'o. The film is expected to be released in 2026. Page previously collaborated with Nolan on the 2010 film "Inception". In 2024, Page starred in his first film as a trans man, "Close to You".
Page's announcement has been met with an outpouring of support and celebration online. The couple's joyful expressions of love serve as an inspiration to many within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
