Devi Sri Prasad Alleges Turkish Singer Plagiarized "Oo Antava"; Legal Action Possibly Imminent, He Claims.

Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), the celebrated music composer behind the hit song "Oo Antava" from the movie Pushpa: The Rise, has accused Turkish singer Atiye of plagiarizing his composition. DSP claims that Atiye's song "Anlayana", released in 2024, bears striking similarities to "Oo Antava".

DSP expressed his surprise and disappointment, stating that the similarities between the two songs are so blatant that it can only be described as a "plain copy". He made these comments at a recent event, where he initially mentioned that an "English singer" had copied the song, but fans quickly pointed to Atiye's "Anlayana" as the alleged infringing work.

"Oo Antava," featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, became a global sensation after its release in 2021. Sung by Indravathi Chauhan, the song was lauded for its catchy rhythm, bold lyrics, and Devi Sri Prasad's signature musical style. It quickly became a chart-topper, transcending regional and linguistic boundaries.

DSP is now considering legal action against Atiye for the unauthorized adaptation of his work. While disappointed by the alleged plagiarism, DSP also acknowledged that the incident highlights the global reach and impact of Telugu music. "I am thinking about filing a case against them and what to do. But I am proud that our Telugu song has been copied," he stated.

Atiye is a well-known pop artist in Turkey who has released songs in both Turkish and English. Following DSP's allegations, her song "Anlayana" has come under intense scrutiny, with many listeners noting the melodic resemblances between it and "Oo Antava".

The controversy has ignited discussions about creative ownership and cross-border plagiarism in the music industry. Fans of Pushpa and Indian cinema have expressed their outrage on social media, demanding recognition for the original creators of "Oo Antava". Some have called for formal action to be taken against Atiye.

This is not the first time "Oo Antava" has faced legal issues. Upon its release, a men's association filed a lawsuit against the song, claiming that its lyrics and visuals portrayed men in a lustful light. Additionally, Devi Sri Prasad faced legal trouble in 2022 for his song "O Pari," which was accused of hurting religious sentiments.

The current situation underscores the increasing global influence of Indian cinema and music, as well as the need to protect intellectual property on international platforms. It remains to be seen whether Devi Sri Prasad will pursue legal action against Atiye. As of now, Atiye has not publicly responded to the allegations.
