The highly anticipated first glimpse of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol, is set to be unveiled on July 3rd. The promo, titled "Ramayana: The Introduction," has been cleared by the censor board and is expected to showcase the film's massive scale, emotional depth, and visual grandeur.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra's DNEG Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana has been a hot topic since its inception. The film began shooting last year, and fans are eagerly awaiting their first look at what is being touted as one of the greatest spectacles in Indian cinema history.
The unveiling of the promo is planned as a grand cinematic event, with the announcement video being launched at a traditional muhurat ceremony. The event will reportedly take place at a multiplex in Mumbai. It is unconfirmed whether the cast and crew will attend this event. Some reports also indicate that the title logo and a short glimpse from the film are set to be unveiled at PVR Forum Mall in Bengaluru on July 3, 2025, starting at 11:30 AM, with the entire team expected to be in attendance.
Ramayana will be released in two parts, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027. The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana. Other cast members include Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and reportedly Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha. Arun Govil is said to be playing King Dashrath, Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, Adinath Kothare as Bharat, and Mohit Raina as Lord Shiva.
Namit Malhotra revealed at the Waves Summit 2025 that they are attempting to take Ramayana to the farthest corners of the world using AI, aiming to localize the film in multiple languages with lip-sync. Jo Plaete, the Chief Innovation Officer of Metaphysic, stated that Ramayana is being made on the scale of The Lord of the Rings and will be a key showcase for DNEG.
Kunal Kapoor, who is reportedly playing Lord Indra in the film, has shared that audiences will be surprised by the scale of the production. He said that it is mounted at a scale that has never been seen before and that it is going to be a spectacle on a scale that nobody has seen before.
The first glimpse of Ramayana was initially supposed to debut at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai, but the makers decided to postpone it due to the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack. After numerous speculations, the promo is finally happening on July 3. The publicity team has informed media outlets of the exclusive unveiling, which will offer a first look into Namit Malhotra's ambitious vision.
