An encounter has broken out between terrorists and security forces in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The clash occurred in a heavily forested area of Singhpora Chatroo on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that the confrontation began when a joint team of police and army initiated a cordon and search operation in the forest between Shari and Mandral Dhok, acting on specific intelligence. The search operation led to contact with the terrorists, triggering a fierce gunfight.
In May 2025, a similar encounter in Kishtwar resulted in the death of an army soldier. The security forces launched "Operation Trashi" in the Chhatru area and engaged in a heavy exchange of fire with hiding terrorists. Additional troops were brought in to neutralize the terrorists.
These incidents highlight the continued militant activity in the remote areas of the Chenab Valley, particularly the Kishtwar district. Security forces continue to conduct operations to counter these threats.
