The launch event promises to be a grand affair, reflecting the film's deep connection to the city where a significant portion of it was shot.
The title track launch follows the successful release of the film's trailer, which has further heightened anticipation among fans. 'Maalik' features Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, alongside Manushi Chhillar, Saurabh Shukla, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Anshuman Pushkar. Huma Qureshi will also make a special appearance in the movie.
Directed by Pulkit and produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani, 'Maalik' is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. The film's music is composed by Sachin-Jigar, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. In preparation for his role, Rajkummar Rao reportedly underwent a physical transformation, including growing his beard for over 80 days to achieve a rugged and intense look.
Prior to the title track, the film has already released two songs "Naamumkin" and "Dil Thaam Ke". "Naamumkin," the first song released, is described as a soulful love song from the heart of a gangster. The song is meant to encapsulate the tenderness of Rajkummar Rao's character, portraying a monster with a wounded heart. "Dil Thaam Ke" is sung by Rashmeet Kaur and Rana Majumdar.
'Maalik' was filmed across real-world locations, including Lucknow, Varanasi, and Unnao, adding to its gritty and grounded feel. The film's narrative is set against a backdrop of power and politics, exploring themes of betrayal and love within a world of tormented souls.
