Tragic Himachal Bus Accident: Five Fatalities, Over Twenty Injured After Vehicle Plunges Into Mandi Gorge.

A tragic bus accident in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district has resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to over 20 others. The incident occurred on Thursday, July 24, 2025, when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus veered off the road and plunged into a gorge near Maseran, in the Tarangla area of the Sarkaghat subdivision. The accident site is approximately 60 kilometers from Mandi town.

According to officials, there were around 35 passengers on board the bus when the accident happened. The bus was traveling from Jamni towards Sarkaghat when it went out of control and fell into a deep ditch on the Sarkaghat-Jamni-Durgapur road. Among the deceased, three were women.

Emergency services, including local police and villagers, responded swiftly to the scene. They worked together to extricate the injured from the wreckage and transport them to Sarkaghat hospital. Several of the injured are reported to be in critical condition, and some have been referred to Bilaspur AIIMS for advanced medical care.

SP Mandi Sakshi Verma confirmed that police and local authorities are conducting rescue and relief operations. Senior roadways officials and other district-level officers have also arrived at the site. As of now, the cause of the accident remains unknown.
