A video circulating on social media captured a hilarious encounter between a group of dogs and a leopard. The incident, which occurred on July 3rd around 11:00 pm, was caught on CCTV and quickly went viral.
In the 15-second clip, a leopard is seen running across a road. A pack of nine stray dogs, seemingly mistaking it for a large cat, begins to chase it. The dogs confidently charge at the leopard, but their bravery quickly fades when they realize the true identity of the animal they are pursuing. As they get closer and recognize it as a leopard, they immediately stop, turn, and flee in all directions, running away in fear.
The video has sparked laughter and amusement online, with many users commenting on the dogs' sudden change of heart. One user humorously noted, "It's not a cat, it's a cat!", while another added, "That's why they say, sometimes ignorance is bliss!". Another user quipped, "Then they come to know he is the father".
Similar incidents of dogs interacting with leopards have been reported in the past. In one instance, CCTV footage from a home in Nainital showed a leopard being aggressively confronted and chased away by three dogs. The leopard had initially attempted to enter the residence but was met by a lone dog, and the situation escalated when two more dogs joined in, forcing the leopard to retreat.
Another video that went viral showed a leopard stealthily entering a house, only to be startled by a barking dog. The leopard, caught off guard, panicked and dashed out of the house in fright.
While these encounters can be amusing, they also highlight the potential dangers of wildlife encounters in residential areas. In 2023, a leopard attacked a pet dog in Rajasthan. The attack stopped when the owner rushed out upon hearing the dog's cries, and the leopard fled.
These incidents have raised concerns among local residents, who are calling on forest departments to intervene and enhance neighborhood safety. Some have requested the installation of cages to capture leopards.
