Residents of Vasai, Maharashtra, orchestrated a unique demonstration, dressing as ghosts to protest the installation of recreational equipment at a Hindu cemetery. The unusual protest was directed at the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation for installing swings, exercise bars, and other play equipment within the Benapatti Hindu cemetery.

The protestors, draped in white sheets and sporting ghostly makeup, marched to the Ward Committee office to express their outrage. They sarcastically thanked municipal officers for "taking care of the ghosts," and even presented them with flowers as a token of their appreciation. The residents questioned the logic behind converting a cemetery into a recreational space, especially when an open ground was available nearby for such installations.

News of the protest and the reason behind it quickly spread online. The incident sparked conversations about the appropriateness of using burial grounds for recreational purposes and the importance of respecting cultural and religious sentiments.

Following the uproar and the ghost-themed protest, the municipal administration removed the installed swings and exercise equipment from the Benapatti Hindu cemetery.
