Marilyn Manson has publicly mourned the loss of his "beloved friend," Ozzy Osbourne, following the iconic Black Sabbath frontman's death on July 22, at the age of 76. Manson, 56, shared a heartfelt tribute on his Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 31, after attending Osbourne's private funeral.

"Today we laid to rest a beloved friend," Manson wrote. "I am eternally grateful that you let me into your life Ozzy. Your inspiration and love will always be with me". He concluded his message with, "Thank you Sharon and family for a reverent, beautiful ceremony. Your legacy lives on".

The funeral, which took place on the grounds of Osbourne's Buckinghamshire mansion, was an intimate affair attended by close family, friends, and fellow musicians. Among those in attendance were Manson and Ozzy's lead guitarist, Zakk Wylde. Reports indicate that guests donned gothic and heavy metal-themed attire in honor of the "Prince of Darkness".

Manson's appearance at the funeral followed Osbourne's farewell concert, "Back to the Beginning," on July 5 in Birmingham, England. At the concert, Osbourne reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in 20 years. The event also featured video tributes from a number of A-list musicians. Manson's video tribute, however, was met with mixed reactions from the crowd, with some booing the singer. Despite the backlash, Manson still attended Osbourne's funeral to pay his respects.

Osbourne's family released a statement on July 22 announcing his death. "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time".

Prior to the private ceremony in Buckinghamshire, thousands of fans lined the streets of Birmingham on Wednesday, July 30, for a funeral procession to honor the Black Sabbath icon. The procession passed by Osbourne's childhood home and the Black Sabbath Bridge, where fans left flowers, messages, and other tributes. Sharon Osbourne and her children, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, were present, visibly emotional as they observed the outpouring of love.

Ozzy Osbourne's final performance was less than three weeks before his death at the "Back to the Beginning" concert on July 5. The event raised approximately $190 million for charity. Osbourne had been battling several health issues in recent years, including Parkinson's disease and complications from a 2019 fall.

Manson and Osbourne's friendship dates back years, with Manson even appearing on Osbourne's reality show, "The Osbournes," and the two embarking on a joint tour in 2019 that was ultimately canceled due to Osbourne's health. In his tribute, Manson expressed his gratitude for Osbourne's presence in his life and the inspiration he provided.

Ozzy Osbourne's death has been felt throughout the music world and beyond. His influence on heavy metal and popular culture is undeniable, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of musicians and fans.
