The Beatles' landmark "Anthology" series is getting a massive reissue this fall, encompassing an expanded documentary series, a new music compilation, and a book. The original eight-part "Anthology" docuseries has been restored and remastered and will be available on Disney+ starting November 26. This release coincides with the 30th anniversary of the original broadcast in 1995.

A key highlight is a brand-new ninth episode featuring previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr working on the "Anthology" project in 1994 and 1995. The Apple Corps production team collaborated with Peter Jackson's Wingnut Films & Park Road Post teams, who previously worked on "The Beatles: Get Back," and Giles Martin, who created new audio mixes for much of the featured music. The series traces the Beatles' journey from Liverpool and Hamburg, their arrival in the USA, their role in the 1960s counterculture, their exploration in India, and their eventual breakup.

The musical side of "Anthology" is also getting an update. The original three double albums, remastered by Giles Martin, will be joined by "Anthology 4," a new disc featuring 13 previously unreleased demos, session outtakes, and other rare recordings. The expanded "Anthology" collection will be released on November 21 in 12-LP and 8-CD box sets, as well as on digital and streaming services. Both box sets include the original sleeve notes and new track notes for "Anthology 4". The collection contains 191 tracks, with studio outtakes, live performances, broadcasts, and demos from 1958 to the final single "Now and Then" released in 2023.

"Anthology 4" will also feature new mixes of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love," which were originally released as part of the "Anthology" series. These tracks have been remixed by the original producer Jeff Lynne, using de-mixed John Lennon vocals. "Now and Then," the "last Beatles song" released in 2023, is also included on "Anthology 4".

Rounding out the reissue is the 25th-anniversary edition of "The Beatles Anthology" book. The 368-page book includes recollections from McCartney, Lennon, Harrison, and Starr, as well as impressions from Beatles associates like George Martin, Neil Aspinall, and Derek Taylor. The book also contains over 1,300 photos, documents, artwork, and other archival Beatles memorabilia. The book will be available on October 14.

This "Anthology" reissue follows Disney+'s previous Beatles-related content, including "Beatles '64" and "The Beatles: Get Back".
