Manchester United's manager, Ruben Amorim, has expressed his optimism about the team's prospects for the current season, citing increased player confidence and improved fitness levels. In his first news conference of the season, Amorim acknowledged the lessons learned from the previous year, particularly the importance of shielding the team from external pressures.

Amorim believes that the challenging experiences of last season have fostered a stronger bond among the players. He stated, "We suffered together so much (last season) and that can bond people - the spirit is really good". This improved team spirit, coupled with a sense of playing well, has contributed to increased confidence and freedom on the pitch, creating a positive snowball effect.

The manager also highlighted the improved physical condition of the squad. Data indicates that the players are reacting quicker, demonstrating greater strength in duels, and recovering positions more rapidly. He noted specific examples from the recent match against Arsenal, where players exhibited impressive sprinting speed and determination. Amorim pointed out that even Casemiro is displaying a different level of pace, underscoring the overall improvement in the team's fitness.

Amorim believes a rigorous summer campaign has contributed to the team's mental resilience. Having had a full summer to prepare, Amorim acknowledges the advantage of having more time to learn how his players operate.

Addressing the goalkeeping situation, Amorim confirmed that Andre Onana is ready to play. He also mentioned that Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui are currently unavailable due to injury.

When questioned about potential transfers, Amorim deferred to the club's dedicated department responsible for handling such matters. He emphasized his focus remains on the team's performance and securing a victory in the upcoming game against Fulham. Amorim stated that while he and the transfer department are in constant communication, his primary concern is Sunday's performance. He clarified that potential outgoing transfers would not necessarily trigger the arrival of new players.

Looking ahead to the match against Fulham, Amorim acknowledged the challenges they pose, recognizing their clear identity and the difficulty in playing against them. He stressed the importance of maintaining consistency in performance, which involves sustaining a high level of play and minimizing significant drops in form. He feels that the consistency has been good in pre-season and against Arsenal.

Amorim's comments suggest a positive shift in the team's mentality and physical preparedness. The manager's emphasis on team spirit, confidence, and fitness, combined with strategic player acquisitions, indicates a determined effort to guide Manchester United toward a successful season.
