The Delhi Police have made significant progress in the investigation into the shooting that occurred outside the residence of YouTuber Elvish Yadav in Gurugram's Sector 57 on August 17, 2025. In a recent operation, police arrested two individuals connected to the incident.
The first arrest was that of Ishant Gandhi, a 19-year-old also known as Ishu, a resident of Jawahar Colony in Faridabad. He was apprehended by the Faridabad Crime Branch on Friday, August 21, after a brief encounter. Acting on a tip, a joint team of Sector 30 and Central Faridabad Crime Branch set up a checkpoint near Faridpur village. When police tried to stop him, Ishant attempted to flee on a motorcycle without a license plate, and in the ensuing chase, he allegedly fired four shots at the police. The police returned fire, hitting Ishant in the right leg. He was then arrested and taken to a Civil Hospital for treatment. A country-made pistol was recovered from his possession. Ishant faces charges of attempted murder of police officers and violations under the Arms Act.
The second arrest occurred on Saturday, August 23, when Gurugram Police apprehended Jatin, a 24-year-old Rapido bike rider from Faridabad's Parvatiya Colony. Jatin was arrested near Hanuman Mandir on Gurugram-Faridabad Road. While not directly involved in the firing, Jatin is accused of providing the motorcycle used by the shooters and helping to plan the attack. The motorcycle has been recovered. Jatin has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
The incident itself took place early Sunday morning, August 17, between 5:30 am and 6:00 am, when three masked men on a motorbike fired approximately 15 to 30 rounds at Yadav's residence before fleeing. At the time of the shooting, Elvish Yadav was not home, but his family was present inside the house. No injuries were reported. CCTV footage showed two of the attackers could be clearly identified.
The Himanshu Bhau gang has claimed responsibility for the shooting, alleging that it was motivated by Yadav's promotion of betting apps, which they claim have "ruined families".
Following the incident, Yadav's father, Ram Avtar Yadav, stated that the family was home at the time of the shooting and that they believe the police are handling the investigation effectively.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the case.
