A Delhi court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Vikash Yadav, a former officer with the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), in connection with an extortion case. Yadav is also under scrutiny by U.S. authorities for his alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
The warrant was issued on Monday, August 25, 2025, by Additional Sessions Judge Saurabh Partap Singh Laler of Patiala House Courts, after Yadav failed to appear in court despite repeated summons. The case against Yadav involves allegations of abduction and extortion, stemming from a complaint filed by a Delhi-based businessman. The court has also issued a notice to Yadav's surety, related to the forfeiture of bond, and has scheduled the next hearing for October 17, 2025.
According to reports, Yadav's absence from court prompted the judge to take coercive action. Yadav had previously sought exemption from personal appearance, citing threats to his life, which were initially granted. However, he did not file a fresh exemption plea on Monday, leading to the issuance of the NBW.
Yadav was initially arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on December 18, 2023, following a complaint by a Rohini resident who accused him of kidnapping and extortion, allegedly in collaboration with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. His arrest occurred weeks after U.S. authorities publicly linked him to the alleged assassination plot against Pannun. He was later granted bail in April 2024.
The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Yadav with "murder-for-hire" and money laundering in connection with the Pannun assassination plot. The FBI has also released a wanted poster for Yadav, who they identify as a former Indian government employee.
