Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has conveyed his gratitude to Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for extending financial assistance of ₹5 crore towards disaster relief efforts in the state. This contribution from the Rajasthan government will aid in providing immediate relief and supporting rehabilitation work in the areas recently affected by natural disasters.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Dhami, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed his condolences and solidarity, stating, "In this difficult time of natural disaster, we consider the suffering of the people of Uttarakhand as our own pain". He assured that Rajasthan stands firmly with Uttarakhand and expressed confidence that the rehabilitation and reconstruction work would be completed swiftly under Dhami's leadership.

Chief Minister Dhami responded to Sharma, expressing his sincere appreciation for the timely support and the sense of unity demonstrated by Rajasthan.

Uttarakhand has faced a series of natural disasters, including flash floods and landslides, which have caused significant damage to infrastructure and property. The state government has sought a special assistance package of ₹5,702 crore from the Central Government to compensate for the damages and to strengthen vulnerable infrastructure against future calamities. A memorandum outlining the extent of the damage and the need for central assistance has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to the state government, various departments have suffered direct losses amounting to ₹1,944 crore between April and August. The Public Works Department and public roads have borne the heaviest losses, with damages of ₹1,164 crore, followed by the irrigation department with ₹266.6 crore and the energy department with ₹123 crore. The education and health sectors have also been affected, with damages reported in schools, higher education institutions, and health facilities.

In addition to the financial losses, the natural disasters have resulted in a tragic loss of life and injuries. The state government is providing immediate assistance of ₹5 lakh to the affected families in the disaster-affected areas. Chief Minister Dhami has also directed officials to ensure adequate provisions for food, medicines, and other essential items for those staying in relief camps.

The state government is taking proactive measures to enhance Uttarakhand's disaster management capabilities. This includes installing long-range modern disaster warning sirens in crowded and disaster-prone areas to provide early warnings during natural disasters. Public awareness campaigns and regular testing of the warning systems are also being conducted.

Rescue and relief operations are continuing in the affected areas, with collaborative efforts from the Uttarakhand Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local authorities. The focus is on evacuating stranded individuals, providing medical assistance, and restoring essential services.
