Following the 2025 Vice Presidential election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to C.P. Radhakrishnan on his victory. Radhakrishnan, the NDA candidate, secured the position by garnering 452 votes against the opposition's B. Sudershan Reddy, who received 300 votes.

In a statement released shortly after the results were announced, Modi expressed confidence in Radhakrishnan's ability to serve as an "outstanding Vice President". Modi conveyed his belief that Radhakrishnan would strengthen constitutional values and enhance parliamentary discourse. The Prime Minister highlighted Radhakrishnan's lifelong dedication to serving society and empowering the poor and marginalized communities. Modi communicated his message via X, emphasizing Radhakrishnan's commitment to public service.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated Radhakrishnan, expressing his firm belief that Radhakrishnan's sagacity, rooted in his grassroots experience, and profound knowledge of administration would be instrumental in optimizing parliamentary democracy to serve marginalized communities. Shah extended his best wishes to Radhakrishnan as he assumes his role as the custodian of the sanctity of the Upper House.

President Droupadi Murmu joined in congratulating Radhakrishnan, acknowledging his decades of public service and wishing him a successful and impactful term as Vice President.

C.P. Radhakrishnan's election marks him as the 15th Vice President of India. The veteran leader has deep ties to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is also the third leader hailing from Tamil Nadu to hold this esteemed position. Radhakrishnan succeeds Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned from the post on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons.

B. Sudershan Reddy, while accepting the outcome of the election, expressed his unwavering faith in the democratic processes of the republic. Despite the results not being in his favor, Reddy affirmed his commitment to continuing the ideological battle with renewed vigor. He extended his gratitude to opposition leaders for nominating him as their joint candidate. Reddy emphasized that democracy is strengthened not only by victory but also by the spirit of dialogue, dissent, and participation. He reiterated his commitment to upholding the ideals of equality, fraternity, and liberty and wished Radhakrishnan well in his new role.

The Vice Presidential election saw participation from Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. A total of 767 MPs cast their votes out of the electoral college's current strength of 781. However, 14 MPs abstained from voting. The polling took place in the new Parliament building, utilizing a secret ballot system where members were not bound by party whips.
