A tragic road accident near the Delhi Cantt metro station on Ring Road has resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three others. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, involved a BMW and a motorcycle.
The deceased has been identified as Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Finance Ministry and a resident of Hari Nagar. Singh was returning home with his wife from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara on his motorcycle when the accident took place. His wife sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
According to police reports, they received multiple calls about a traffic jam near metro pillar number 67 on the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt metro station stretch. Upon arrival, they found a BMW turned sideways on the road and a motorcycle near the road divider. Eyewitnesses stated that a woman was driving the BMW when it collided with the motorcycle from behind.
Following the collision, the woman driving the BMW and her husband, who was with her, reportedly hired a taxi and rushed the injured, Navjot Singh and his wife, to a nearby hospital. However, Singh was declared dead during treatment. The BMW driver and her husband, identified as Gurugram residents, also sustained injuries and are currently hospitalized. Their statements are yet to be recorded by the police due to their medical condition.
Authorities have seized both the BMW and the motorcycle involved in the accident. A crime team and experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the accident site to gather evidence. An FIR has been registered, and the police have confirmed that appropriate legal action is being taken based on the ongoing investigation and forensic findings.
The accident caused a temporary disruption in traffic flow on the Ring Road. However, authorities managed to restore normal movement after removing the damaged vehicles.
The police are currently investigating the matter and awaiting medical reports and statements from the injured parties to determine the exact sequence of events.
