Apollo Tyres is set to become the new jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team, stepping in after Dream11's departure. The deal, expected to last until 2027, marks a significant commercial agreement for both the tyre manufacturer and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The sponsorship agreement follows a bidding process initiated by the BCCI after its deal with Dream11 was cut short. The termination of the Dream11 contract was influenced by the enactment of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which placed restrictions on real-money gaming applications. This led the BCCI to seek a new sponsor for the team.
Apollo Tyres reportedly outbid other contenders, including Canva and JK Tyre, to secure the sponsorship. While Birla Optus Paints initially expressed interest, they did not participate in the final bidding process. The tyre manufacturer is expected to pay ₹4.5 crore per game, exceeding Dream11's previous contribution of ₹4 crore per match. It is estimated that there are approximately 130 matches scheduled between now and 2027. Some reports suggest the deal is worth INR 579 crore and includes 121 bilateral games and 21 ICC matches.
The Indian cricket team has been without a jersey sponsor in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The women's team has also been playing their ODI series against Australia without a jersey partner. The Apollo Tyres sponsorship will cover both the men's and women's teams.
Historically, the jersey sponsorship of the Indian cricket team has been a valuable commercial asset, attracting prominent global and domestic brands such as BYJU's, Oppo, and Sahara. The new partnership with Apollo Tyres reflects the continued commercial appeal of Indian cricket, even amidst regulatory changes affecting related industries. The BCCI had specified that brands associated with gaming, betting, crypto, and tobacco were ineligible to bid, along with companies in sectors like athleisure, sportswear, banking, and financial services.
