Coimbatore, November 19, 2025 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Coimbatore today to inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit and release the 21st installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, amounting to over Rs 18,000 crore, benefiting approximately 9 crore farmers across the country.
The Prime Minister's visit to Tamil Nadu follows his participation in the centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. In Puttaparthi, he paid his respects at Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Mahasamadhi and released a commemorative coin and a set of stamps honoring his life and legacy.
Upon arriving in Coimbatore at approximately 1:30 PM, PM Modi will inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit, organized by the Tamil Nadu Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum. The summit, running from today until November 21st, aims to promote sustainable, eco-friendly, and chemical-free agricultural practices, encouraging the adoption of natural and regenerative farming models throughout the region.
The event is expected to draw over 50,000 participants, including farmers, natural farming practitioners, scientists, organic input suppliers, sellers, and stakeholders from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. The summit will highlight opportunities for farmer-producer organizations and rural entrepreneurs, with a focus on market linkages, agro-processing, organic inputs, eco-friendly packaging, and indigenous agricultural innovations.
The PM-KISAN scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year to eligible farmers, distributed in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 every four months through direct benefit transfer. The release of the 21st installment underscores the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers across India.
This initiative is particularly significant as it aligns with the growing emphasis on sustainable agriculture and reducing dependence on chemical inputs. The natural farming summit provides a platform for sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions that can contribute to a more resilient and environmentally friendly agricultural system. The Prime Minister is also expected to address the gathering, further emphasizing the importance of natural farming and its role in the future of Indian agriculture.
