Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar met with his successor, C. P. Radhakrishnan, on Tuesday, marking their first formal interaction since Radhakrishnan assumed office. The meeting took place at the Vice President's Enclave in New Delhi.

Dhankhar had resigned from the Vice Presidency on July 21, 2025, citing health reasons, which led to a new election for the position. Radhakrishnan, formerly the Governor of Maharashtra, won the election and was sworn in as the Vice President of India on September 12, 2025. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

This week's meeting was the first time the two leaders have met since Radhakrishnan's swearing-in ceremony. Dhankhar was the first occupant of the Vice President's Enclave, a 13-acre property that became the official residence approximately two years ago, replacing the Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas on Maulana Azad Road.

Following his resignation, Dhankhar penned a letter to Radhakrishnan congratulating him on his election as Vice President. In the letter, Dhankhar conveyed his belief that Radhakrishnan's ascension to the position reflected the trust and confidence of the nation's representatives.

Radhakrishnan's election followed his resignation as Governor of Maharashtra. Prior to being appointed as Vice President, Radhakrishnan served as the Governor of Maharashtra. After Radhakrishnan's resignation as Maharashtra Governor, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat was appointed to temporarily oversee the responsibilities of the Maharashtra Governor.
