Neeraj Ghaywan's critically acclaimed film "Homebound," starring Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa, is set to premiere on Netflix on November 21, 2025. The film has been selected as India's official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026).

"Homebound" has already garnered international recognition, including a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. This digital debut will make the film accessible to a wider audience.

The film explores the friendship between Mohammed Shoaib Ali (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan Kumar (Vishal Jethwa), two childhood friends aspiring to become police officers. The movie also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Harshika Parmar, Shalini Vatsa, Chandan K Anand, and Vijay Vikram Singh.

"Homebound" is Ghaywan's second film to receive global acclaim, following "Masaan," which was released in 2015. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Adar Poonawalla, and Somen Mishra. Martin Scorsese served as an executive producer for the film.

Early viewers have lauded the film for its rawness and the chemistry between the lead actors, with many calling it Ghaywan's most personal work to date. With a strong festival run and Ghaywan's reputation for crafting emotionally resonant narratives, "Homebound" is anticipated to be a major release for Netflix India. The film's themes and performances make it a must-watch for those interested in powerful cinema.

Karan Johar expressed his excitement about "Homebound" being selected as India's official entry for the Oscars, acknowledging the honor and gratitude for the Film Federation of India's belief in the story.

The film's selection for the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in May was followed by a nine-minute standing ovation after its premiere.

For viewers keen on experiencing this internationally recognized film, "Homebound" will be available on Netflix from November 21, 2025. This release offers an early opportunity to watch the movie before the start of its international Oscar campaign.
