NC Alleges Selective Targeting of Kashmiris After Delhi Blast, Demands State Protection for Their Safety.

NC Claims 'Selective Targeting' of Kashmiris Over Delhi Car Blast, Urges States to Protect Them

The National Conference (NC) has condemned the alleged "selective targeting" of Kashmiris following the recent car blast in Delhi and urged all state governments to ensure the safety and dignity of Kashmiri residents across India. The blast, which occurred near the historic Red Fort, resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries and is being investigated as a terror incident.

The NC's working committee passed a resolution expressing concern that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being stereotyped in the wake of the Delhi blast. The party emphasized that not every Kashmiri is a terrorist or a supporter of terror. They called upon all state governments to proactively protect Kashmiris and other residents of Jammu and Kashmir living or working in other parts of India.

The resolution comes amid reports of increased scrutiny and harassment of Kashmiris in various states following the Delhi incident. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has alleged that Kashmiri students are facing profiling, eviction, and intimidation in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. They have appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and "call off the vilification" of the community.

Several arrests have been made in connection with the Delhi car blast, including residents of Kashmir. Law enforcement agencies are investigating potential links between the blast and previously dismantled militant cells operating in the Kashmir region. According to Kashmir police, those arrested have links with Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

The NC has also reiterated its commitment to restoring Jammu and Kashmir's special constitutional status, which was revoked in 2019. The party views the restoration of statehood as crucial for the aspirations and dignity of the people of Kashmir.

The aftermath of the Delhi blast has seen heightened security measures and investigations. Indian security agencies have detained suspects in Kashmir and conducted raids as part of their investigation. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including potential terror links.

Some reports indicate that the investigation into the blast began with a probe into anti-India posters in Srinagar. CCTV footage reportedly helped identify suspects, leading to arrests.
