New Delhi, December 5, 2025 – In a move set to further cement the strong cultural and educational ties between India and Russia, the Russian Education Agency has officially inaugurated its branch in New Delhi. The announcement was made on Thursday, coinciding with Russian President Vladimir Putin's two-day state visit to India. This is Putin's first visit to India since the onset of the war in Ukraine.
The New Delhi office will function as a dedicated support center for Indian students seeking admission to Russian universities. Specialists will provide guidance on selecting academic programs and universities, completing admission formalities, securing visas, and handling necessary documentation. The agency aims to streamline the application process, making it easier for Indian students to pursue higher education in Russia.
The Russian Education Agency is a joint initiative between Synergy Corporation and Innopraktika. Vadim Lobov, President of Synergy Corporation, emphasized the importance of the opening, stating it as a significant step in strengthening the friendship between India and Russia. Natalia Popova, the First Deputy CEO of Innopraktika, highlighted that the agency offers more than just information easily found online, but valuable support to young Indians seeking an international education.
The agency currently collaborates with several leading Russian universities and plans to expand its presence in India, with new branches proposed in Mumbai and Chennai in 2026. The agency expects to facilitate the enrollment of more than 10,000 Indian students in Russian universities by 2026.
Beyond assisting students, the agency will also focus on promoting Russian culture and language in India. Themed educational activities will be introduced in Indian schools, with the first interactive lessons titled "Bridge of Friendship: Russia and India" already conducted in Delhi schools, drawing participation from over 1,000 high school students. Similar sessions are planned across the country.
Russia has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, particularly in medicine, engineering, and management fields. The establishment of the Russian Education Agency in New Delhi is an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation and the foundation of friendship between the two countries. The agency operates as a "one-stop solution," providing counseling, documentation and visa assistance, and support for adapting to a new country and academic environment.
During Putin's visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him at the Air Force Station Palam. The two leaders are scheduled to attend the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. Trade, economic cooperation, and global security are expected to be key topics of discussion.
The opening of the Russian Education Agency branch and President Putin's visit highlight the deepening strategic partnership between India and Russia. The initiative is expected to boost cooperation in education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
