Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jordan today, December 15, 2025, marking the beginning of his three-nation tour that also includes Ethiopia and Oman. The Prime Minister was received by Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan upon his arrival in Amman.
This visit to Jordan holds particular significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. Prior to his departure, Prime Minister Modi stated that he anticipates engaging in detailed discussions with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan. He also expressed his intention to meet with Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.
In addition to high-level meetings with Jordanian leaders, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to interact with the Indian community in Amman. This meeting acknowledges the Indian diaspora's substantial contributions to the strengthening of bilateral ties between India and Jordan.
The Prime Minister's agenda includes discussions on a range of topics of mutual interest, with the aim of providing fresh impetus to bilateral engagement and exploring new avenues for cooperation to foster mutual growth and prosperity. This visit is expected to reaffirm the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Following his engagements in Jordan, Prime Minister Modi will proceed to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he will hold discussions with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. He is also slated to address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, sharing his perspectives on India's democratic journey and the potential of the India-Ethiopia partnership to benefit the Global South. Furthermore, he will meet with the Indian diaspora in Ethiopia.
The final leg of Prime Minister Modi's three-nation tour will take him to Muscat, Oman, where he will meet with the Sultan of Oman. Discussions will likely cover a range of topics, building upon the 70 years of diplomatic ties between India and Oman. He is also expected to address a gathering of the Indian diaspora in Oman.
