A father's heartbreaking journey: Carrying his deceased baby home by bus after 70km.

In a distressing incident in Jharkhand, a man was forced to carry his baby's body in a plastic bag and travel 70 kilometers home by bus after a government hospital allegedly failed to provide timely transportation. Dimba Chataumba, a resident of Baljori, a remote village in West Singhbhum district, had rushed his four-month-old son, Krishna, to the Chaibasa sadar hospital, hoping to save his life.

Krishna was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of high fever, loose motion, and breathing difficulties. Tests confirmed he had malaria and was critically ill with anemia, requiring ventilator support that the hospital couldn't provide. Doctors advised Chataumba to take his son to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, but tragically, Krishna passed away on Friday evening.

Left with no money and no ambulance readily available, Chataumba was allegedly told by hospital staff to wait for more than two hours, as their only working ambulance was about 80km away. Unable to bear the delay, he bought a grocery bag, placed his son's 3.6kg body inside, and boarded a public bus for the long journey home, without informing the hospital staff.

The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious questions about the availability of basic healthcare facilities in remote areas. Authorities have yet to release a statement regarding the incident. This is not an isolated incident; it reflects a systemic problem of inadequate resources and infrastructure in rural healthcare, leaving vulnerable families with limited options in times of crisis.
