D Fadnavis Urges BJP Leaders: Focus on Victory, Not Infighting, After Local Body Elections.

Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) strong performance in the recent Maharashtra Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Elections 2025, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has cautioned party leaders and workers against internal conflicts. Fadnavis emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and avoiding actions that could undermine the party's collective strength, especially after securing a significant victory.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the local body elections, with Fadnavis attributing the success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the guidance of BJP National President JP Nadda, and the dedicated efforts of state BJP chief Ravindra Chavan and party workers. The party won approximately 129 municipal council chairperson posts and a record 3,300 corporator seats. The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, secured a majority of chairperson positions.

Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to the voters for their massive support, stating that the mandate reflected the public's faith in the BJP's governance and development agenda. He further asserted that the party would continue pushing for uninterrupted development across Maharashtra. He highlighted that the BJP has strengthened its presence in both rural and urban areas since 2014, representing all castes, communities and regions of Maharashtra.

The Deputy Chief Minister credited the Mahayuti's success to a team effort between the BJP organization and the government, emphasizing that they fought the elections on a plank of development. Fadnavis stated that he led a positive campaign focused on the development agenda, abstaining from personal criticism of any political leader or party. He sought votes based on the BJP's work and their blueprint for the future.

However, the opposition has alleged that the Mahayuti's victory was shaped by "money and muscle power". Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut attributed the win to the "tampering" of EVMs and claimed that the opposition couldn't withstand a "hailstorm" of money. Despite these allegations, Fadnavis and other BJP leaders have maintained that the election results reflect the public's confidence in their development-oriented governance.

Looking ahead, Fadnavis has expressed confidence that the BJP will achieve even greater success in the upcoming civic corporation elections. Elections for 29 civic corporations in the state are scheduled for January 15, with vote counting to follow the next day. Fadnavis emphasized that the trust shown by urban voters would be repaid through visible development, with cities undergoing significant change and growth. He also mentioned that ministers were assigned specific responsibilities and worked effectively with the party organization.
