As fans eagerly await the final episodes of Stranger Things Season 5, details about the highly anticipated Volume 2 have emerged. Co-creator Ross Duffer has revealed the runtimes for the remaining episodes, promising a long and emotional farewell to the beloved series.
Volume 2, consisting of the final four episodes, is set to premiere on Netflix, with the first three episodes dropping on Christmas Day. The episode titles and confirmed runtimes are as follows:
- Episode 5: "Shock Jock" - 1 hour 8 minutes
- Episode 6: "Escape From Camazotz" - 1 hour 15 minutes
- Episode 7: "The Bridge" - 1 hour 6 minutes
The series finale, titled "The Rightside Up," will be available on New Year's Eve and boasts a runtime of 2 hours and 8 minutes, making it the longest episode of the entire series. This is a slight increase from the previously announced 2 hours and 5 minutes.
Duffer has also provided insights into what viewers can expect from Volume 2. Episode 5 will pick up directly after the events of episode 4, continuing the momentum of the season. Episode 6, directed by Shawn Levy, is described as the "biggest episode" of Volume 2 and promises to be emotionally impactful. "The Bridge" is co-directed by the Duffer brothers and Levy, with Duffer teasing it as potentially the most emotional chapter aside from the finale.
The finale will also have a limited theatrical release in over 500 North American locations, running from December 31 to January 1. Duffer hinted that fans should be prepared for a highly emotional experience, even in a public setting.
With the confirmed runtimes, Stranger Things Season 5 will run for just over 10 hours. This is shorter than Season 4, which was over 13 hours long.
The final episodes promise to be a thrilling and emotional conclusion to the series, with the fates of Hawkins and its beloved characters hanging in the balance.
