Shrutika Arjun of Bigg Boss 18: Navigating Reality TV After Films Isn't Necessarily Easier

Shrutika Arjun, a prominent figure in South Indian entertainment, has recently opened up about her transition from films to reality television, particularly her experience on Bigg Boss 18. The actress, who began her career in the early 2000s, took a hiatus from the film industry to focus on her education and personal life, later making a comeback through reality shows.

"People often assume that reality shows are easy, but I wouldn’t call them easy either," Shrutika stated in a recent interview. She emphasized that while the format may seem less demanding than the rigorous schedules of film shoots, reality shows come with their own unique set of challenges. "It's a different kind of work. You're constantly under surveillance, your emotions are heightened, and you're living in an artificial environment. It tests you in ways you can't imagine," she explained.

Shrutika's career began at the age of 15 with the Tamil film Sri (2002), opposite actor Suriya. She garnered appreciation for her performance, noted for its innocence and maturity. She followed this with roles in Nala Damayanthi (2003) and the Malayalam film Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam. After a short yet memorable stint in movies, she took a break to complete her education. Shrutika holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai, earning gold medals for her academic achievements.

Her return to the entertainment industry in 2022 was marked by her participation in the reality series Cooku with Comali Season 3, where she emerged as the winner. This victory paved the way for further television opportunities, including judging roles and appearances in other reality shows. In 2024, she entered the Hindi reality show Bigg Boss 18, becoming the first Tamil contestant on the series. Her journey on Bigg Boss 18 saw her evicted on Day 96.

Reflecting on her decision to shift to reality TV, Shrutika noted that it was a conscious choice to explore different facets of her personality and connect with audiences on a more personal level. "In films, you're playing a character. In reality shows, you're being yourself, or at least, a version of yourself that's amplified for television," she said. She also acknowledged the demanding nature of reality shows, where contestants are isolated from the outside world and constantly vying for attention and survival.

Beyond her entertainment career, Shrutika is also an entrepreneur. She founded an Ayurvedic skin brand named Haappy Herbs in 2018 and also has a women's clothing brand, 'Tharii By Shrutika'.

In recent news, Shrutika has shared updates about her health following a major surgery. She revealed that she had been managing a health complication for some time and expressed gratitude for the support of her loved ones and her faith during her recovery. She is currently taking a break to recover fully, with plans to return to work with renewed dedication.

Shrutika's journey from films to reality shows reflects her adaptability and resilience. While she acknowledges the challenges of both mediums, she embraces the opportunities they offer to connect with audiences and explore different aspects of her multifaceted personality.
