Vicky Kaushal has been sharing his insights and experiences while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film, "Love and War," which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. This film marks Kaushal's first collaboration with Bhansali, and he describes the experience as transformative, like attending "film school".
Kaushal has expressed immense respect for Bhansali's filmmaking approach, calling him "a magician" and "a master". He notes that working with Bhansali allows him to discover deeper nuances in his performances and that Bhansali pushes his actors to explore the possibilities within a scene. Kaushal said, "It's about how he pulls out performances that you realise there's so much more scope as an actor to keep finding details in that scene and that writing". He appreciates the director's clarity and command over the story and characters, which allows him to approach scenes with more confidence and feel more relaxed.
Kaushal emphasizes the importance of preparation but also values the freedom to explore and discover new facets of his character under Bhansali's guidance. He explained that Bhansali is a master of exploring the possibilities of what a character could do in a given circumstance and that there is "so much joy and so much adrenaline in exploring".
"Love and War" is a romantic drama that has generated significant buzz, and the first glimpse of the film is expected to be unveiled in January 2026. While leaked images from the film's shooting have circulated online, Bhansali intends to present his own meticulously crafted vision of the film to the audience. The film was first announced in January 2024 and was initially slated for release in March 2026, but it has been postponed, with a possible release date of August 14, 2026.
The film unites Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal for the first time. Kaushal previously worked with Kapoor in "Sanju" and Bhatt in "Raazi". He has expressed his admiration for both actors, stating that they are not only great actors but also "incredible human beings," which makes working with them enjoyable.
