Darshan's Wife Targeted with Online Abuse: Cyber Complaint Filed, Police Investigation Underway

Bangalore, December 24, 2025 – Vijayalakshmi, the wife of jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, has filed a formal cyber complaint with the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru concerning a barrage of abusive and defamatory comments targeting her and her family on social media. The complaint follows a recent visit to her husband, who is currently incarcerated in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison.

The catalyst for this online harassment appears to be an escalating "fans war" between supporters of Darshan and another prominent Kannada actor, Kichcha Sudeep. This online feud has gained considerable traction in recent days, with fans exchanging heated words and insults on various social media platforms.

According to police sources, Vijayalakshmi submitted screenshots and photographs documenting over 150 instances of abusive posts specifically targeting her family. These posts allegedly contain insults and defamatory statements, prompting her to seek legal intervention. Her complaint urges the CCB to launch a thorough investigation into the accounts responsible for disseminating this offensive content.

Prior to approaching the CCB, Vijayalakshmi initially visited the Banashankari police station. However, she was redirected to the cyber crime station, which operates in conjunction with the CCB at the city police commissioner's office, as they specialize in handling cyber-related offenses. Accompanied by her lawyer, Vijayalakshmi met with CCB Joint Commissioner Ajay Hilori, where she formally presented her written complaint along with the supporting evidence. Officials have confirmed that the complaint specifically addresses online abuse and defamatory messaging.

The filing of the complaint occurred after Vijayalakshmi and Darshan's brother, Dinakar Thoogudeepa, visited the actor in prison on December 23rd. During the 30-minute meeting, they reportedly discussed the ongoing social media conflict, reactions from fans, and updates regarding Darshan's upcoming film, "Devil". Vijayalakshmi also briefed Darshan on the external situation, including media coverage of the controversy.

Following the prison visit, Vijayalakshmi left some fruits for Darshan before proceeding to file the complaint with the authorities. The "fans war" within the Kannada film industry has drawn widespread attention, characterized by harsh exchanges between supporters of the rival actors.

The cybercrime division has acknowledged the complaint and assured Vijayalakshmi that they will take the necessary action. The investigation is underway to identify the individuals behind the abusive accounts, some of which allegedly feature Kichcha Sudeep's name, images, or affiliations, although the authenticity of these connections remains under investigation. It is worth noting that actress Ramya experienced a similar situation previously and filed a complaint regarding obscene comments, leading to arrests of some Darshan fans.

As the CCB reviews the complaint, attention is focused on any potential messages Darshan might convey through his family regarding the situation. The police have confirmed that the investigation into the social media abuse is currently in progress.
