In Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, a Special POCSO Court has sentenced a 47-year-old man to death for the repeated sexual assault of his 14-year-old daughter. The father, a laborer from Nanguneri, was found guilty of непрестанно subjecting his daughter to sexual abuse.
The victim disclosed the abuse to her mother, but no action was taken. The abuse came to light after physical changes appeared, and doctors confirmed the girl was seven months pregnant.
Judge Suresh Kumar, after a seven-month trial with strong arguments from public prosecutor Usha, stated, "The fact that the father, who should have protected his own daughter, engaged in such a heinous act, which is an unforgivable crime in society... It has been unequivocally proven that this is a grave social atrocity. Therefore, I sentence the accused to death". The court also ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 and directed the government to provide Rs 10 lakh in compensation to the victim.
The Nanguneri All-Women police station registered a case based on the mother's complaint. The case was investigated by a team led by Tirunelveli city DCP Prasanna Kumar, then ASP of Nanguneri, and a charge sheet was quickly filed under the guidance of Tirunelveli SP Silambarasan.
