In a display of quick thinking and camaraderie, actress Ankita Lokhande and her husband, Vicky Jain, rushed to assist filmmaker Sandeep Singh after a fire broke out in his residential complex in Andheri West, Mumbai. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, December 25th, at the Sorrento Tower near Country Club on Veera Desai Road.
According to reports, the fire erupted at approximately 10:00 AM in the 23-story building, affecting the electrical wiring and components between the 10th and 21st floors. The blaze significantly damaged the 12th, 13th, and 14th floors of the building. Singh's residence is located on the 14th floor.
Emergency services responded swiftly, rescuing approximately 40 residents from the building. Firefighters used staircases to evacuate 30-40 people from the 16th-floor refuge area and employed breathing apparatus to safely move three individuals, including a woman, from a flat on the 15th floor. The fire was brought under control by 11:37 AM, with at least four fire engines deployed to the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Sandeep Singh, known for producing films such as "Mary Kom," "Sarbjit," "Aligarh," "Jhund," "Savarkar," "Safed," and "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," had recently been discharged from Kokilaben Hospital after receiving treatment for a hernia. Upon learning of the incident, Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain, who are friends with Singh, immediately offered their assistance. They took Singh to their home as a precautionary measure.
TellyChakkar shared images on Instagram showing Lokhande and Jain with Singh, apparently taken at a hospital. As of now, none of the three have released any personal statements regarding the incident on their social media accounts.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade has confirmed that all residents were safely evacuated without any reported injuries. The fire was contained to the 14th floor.
