Karan Tacker, known for his roles in "Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai" and "Special OPS," recently shared a series of unsettling images from the set of his latest project, "Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery," sparking conversation about the emotional and psychological impact of portraying a real-life character whose life ended mysteriously. The series, directed by Robbie Grewal and written by Arshad Syed, explores the life and work of Gaurav Tiwari, India's first paranormal investigator, who died at the young age of 32. The show also stars Kalki Koechlin, Danish Sood, Saloni Batra, Nimisha Nair, and Shubham Chaudhary.
Tacker's Instagram post featured images showcasing realistic injury marks and stitched wounds, along with a photo of him lying on a medical gurney. In the caption, he reflected on a particular scene that deeply affected him, forcing him to confront the idea of a life cut short and the impact on those left behind. "This scene introduced me to an emotion I didn't know how to access," Tacker wrote, adding that imagining such a scenario "just stays with you".
"Bhay" is not a conventional horror show but a story about a man who dedicated his life to exploring the unknown. Tacker emphasized the sensitivity required when portraying a real person, especially considering that Tiwari's family and friends are still alive. He aimed to honor Tiwari's life and legacy rather than creating a fictitious character for a horror show. Tacker spent months in pre-production, focusing on understanding Tiwari as a person beyond his paranormal investigations. He wanted to understand the man, who was a pilot, a researcher, and a husband.
Adding to the eerie atmosphere, Tacker has also spoken about unsettling incidents that occurred during the filming of "Bhay". He claimed that during one scene, all the cameras on set malfunctioned simultaneously, with batteries draining inexplicably. Mobile phones also ran out of charge without warning. Tacker noted that such occurrences are often linked to paranormal activity. Additionally, he recounted an incident where a tree uprooted itself and damaged an ambulance parked on set. Saloni Batra, who plays Meghaa in the series, shared an anecdote about a shadow or smoky silhouette captured on camera passing behind Tacker during an intense scene. The cast reportedly watched the footage multiple times, rewinding to examine the unexplained phenomenon.
Tacker admitted that the experience of filming "Bhay" stayed with him long after the cameras stopped rolling, giving him an unsettling yet profound perspective on death. He even confessed to experiencing sleepless nights and asking his mother to stay with him until he fell asleep. He felt a responsibility to honor Gaurav Tiwari's legacy and bring his story to life with sensitivity and respect. "Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery" is currently streaming on Amazon MX Player.
