Indian Music Legends Unite to Honor Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan in a Historic On-Stage Tribute

Mumbai, December 26, 2025 – In a landmark tribute to the late Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, and Shaan are set to unite on stage for the first time. The concert, titled "Haazri," will be held on January 17, 2026, in Mumbai, coinciding with the death anniversary of the celebrated Hindustani classical vocalist. This event promises to be a unique celebration of Indian music, heritage, and the guru-shishya parampara.

Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, an acclaimed master of the Rampur-Sahaswan Gharana, was not only a Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awardee but also a mentor to some of the most prominent voices in the Indian music industry. His disciples include legendary singers such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, and Amit Kumar, in addition to Rahman, Nigam, Hariharan, and Shaan. Known for his melodious voice and gentle teaching methods, Ustad Khan's influence has shaped Indian music for over six decades.

"Haazri" is being curated by A.R. Rahman, who has expressed his excitement about performing at the tribute for the second consecutive year. This year, he plans to present a special set in honor and remembrance of their "legendary Ustad" and is looking forward to sharing the stage with his fellow disciples.

For Sonu Nigam, the concert holds deep personal significance. He has shared that Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan resides within him forever and that he constantly feels his guru's presence. Nigam also acknowledges the family he gained through his guru, including his children and fellow students, making the performance an emotional experience. Shaan has conveyed his excitement and a touch of nervousness about the event. He explained that A.R. Rahman is crafting something truly special, incorporating their Guru Ji's songs and bandishes. Although this genre of music is not Shaan's usual style, he is committed to giving his best. Hariharan anticipates a never-before-seen act, filled with energy and emotions on stage.

The tribute will also feature Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan's sons, Murtuza Mustafa Khan, Qadir Mustafa Khan, Rabbani Mustafa Khan, and Hasan Mustafa Khan, along with his grandsons, Faiz Mustafa Khan and Zain Mustafa Khan, carrying forward his timeless tradition. The "Haazri" concert will present a blend of Sufi, traditional, and Bollywood music, weaving together emotion, artistry, and devotion into an unforgettable homage. The event is organized by NR Talent and Event Management. Tickets for the event are available on BookMyShow. Ticket prices range from ₹2,999.00 for Silver Seating to ₹24,999.00 for VVIP Seating Centre.
