Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh: Kartik Aaryan's Error Fuels a Powerful "Dhurandhar" Trend in Bollywood.

Kartik Aaryan's recent release, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, is facing challenges at the box office, and trade analyst Taran Adarsh believes that releasing the film amidst the "Dhurandhar wave" was a mistake. Adarsh revealed that he had advised both Dharma Productions and Kartik Aaryan to postpone the release of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri due to the overwhelming success of Dhurandhar.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Adarsh stated that five days before the release of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, he contacted Dharma Productions and requested a postponement, explaining that Dhurandhar had created a strong wave and that even securing screens wouldn't guarantee an audience. He reiterated this point after watching Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, telling Kartik Aaryan directly that releasing the film during the Dhurandhar wave was a misstep. Adarsh emphasized the importance of avoiding ego in such situations, suggesting that postponing the release would have ensured a greater number of screens for Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.

Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has been shattering box office records since its release. Adarsh noted the film's unprecedented performance, drawing comparisons to the frenzy seen during Sholay's run. He told ANI that Dhurandhar's box office performance is like a tsunami, rarely witnessed, and is setting new benchmarks, surpassing records set by films like Pushpa, Jawan, Pathaan, Stree 2, and Baahubali 2.

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, was released on Christmas and was expected to perform well due to the holiday. However, the film has struggled against the Dhurandhar juggernaut. In its first four days, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri earned ₹23.75 crores in India, while Dhurandhar earned ₹22.5 crores on a single Sunday, bringing its total gross in India to ₹862.23 crores and crossing ₹1100 crores globally. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri's opening day was ₹7.75 crores, followed by a drop to ₹4.50 crores on Friday, remaining flat on Saturday.

Adding to the narrative, Kartik Aaryan shared a post on social media that some interpret as a subtle dig at Dhurandhar. The post, written by screenplay writer Saurabh Bharat, lauded Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri for being a "breezing progressive film" amidst a landscape of "hypermasculinity and testosterone-boosting action films". Aaryan amplified the post with a heart emoji.

According to distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri suffered from an average title and music, and the chemistry between the lead actors failed to ignite. Bansal believes that without the Dhurandhar wave, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri would have performed better. Taran Adarsh also pointed out that the content of the film, in addition to the release date, contributed to its failure. He noted that even if released at a different time, the film might not have succeeded.

The success of Dhurandhar has impacted other releases, including the Hollywood film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has also faced tough competition. Adarsh highlighted that Avatar: Fire and Ash didn't receive the usual preference from multiplexes, indicating the extent of the Dhurandhar effect.
