Mumbai Indians dominate Delhi Capitals in WPL 2026 with Carey and Kerr's stellar three-wicket hauls, winning by 50 runs.

Mumbai, January 10, 2026 – The Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a dominant 50-run victory against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 match held at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. After a disappointing loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their opening match, the defending champions bounced back with a commanding performance, powered by outstanding batting and disciplined bowling.

Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mumbai Indians, after a shaky start losing Amelia Kerr early, recovered strongly, posting a formidable total of 195/4 in their 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with an unbeaten 74 off 42 balls, supported by Nat Sciver-Brunt's impressive 70 off 46 deliveries. The duo's stellar performance was instrumental in setting a challenging target for the Delhi Capitals. Kaur went on a boundary hitting spree, smashing three consecutive fours in the final over.

In response, Delhi Capitals struggled to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for 145 in 19 overs. MI's bowlers made early inroads, leaving DC reeling at 33/4. Nicola Carey's crucial three-wicket haul, including the dismissals of Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, and Marizanne Kapp, further dented DC's chase. Amelia Kerr also contributed significantly, claiming three wickets. Shabnim Ismail was economical, conceding only 14 runs and taking a vital wicket. Chinelle Henry fought resiliently, scoring 50 runs, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early setbacks.

Mumbai Indians' victory was built on Harmanpreet Kaur's exceptional leadership and batting display, coupled with disciplined bowling. Nat Sciver-Brunt's all-round performance with both bat and ball was also a major factor in MI's success. After losing to RCB on Friday, Mumbai Indians addressed their concerns with their top order and fielding. Jemimah Rodrigues faced a tough start as captain of the Delhi Capitals, who will need to regroup before their next match.

Harmanpreet Kaur was named Player of the Match for her brilliant innings.
