The trailer for the highly anticipated action thriller "O'Romeo," starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, was released on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, offering a glimpse into the intense and violent world crafted by director Vishal Bhardwaj. The film, which marks Bhardwaj's reunion with Kapoor after more than eight years, is slated to release in theaters on February 13, 2026.
Dimri stars as Afsha, who becomes entangled in a love-hate saga with Haseen Ustara, a deadly gangster portrayed by Kapoor. The film is reportedly based on the life of Hussain Ustara, a figure from Hussain Zaidi's book, "Mafia Queens of Mumbai". Nana Patekar plays a cop on Ustara's trail, while Farida Jalal appears as Ustara's grandmother, cautioning him about Afsha. The cast also includes Avinash Tiwary, Disha Patani, Tamannaah Bhatia, Aruna Irani, Hussain Dalal, and Rahul Deshpande, with a special appearance by Vikrant Massey.
The trailer showcases the chemistry between Kapoor and Dimri amidst the gritty backdrop of Mumbai. It teases Bhardwaj's signature music style and hyper-stylized action sequences. The film delves into a dark, obsessive, and ultimately tragic love story.
Bhardwaj revealed that "O'Romeo" faced a decade-long delay due to creative blocks, possessiveness over the story, and budget considerations. He admitted to being very possessive about the story, refusing to give it to other directors who expressed interest.
"O'Romeo" marks the fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj, who have previously worked together on "Kaminey," "Haider," and "Rangoon". Bhardwaj has co-written the screenplay with Rohan Narula and is also responsible for the dialogues. Sajid Nadiadwala produces the film, with Manuj Mittra as the associate producer.
The film is set to clash with Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav's "Tu Yaa Main" on February 13.
