In his latest "Mann Ki Baat" address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the critical need for Indian industries and startups to prioritize quality and strive for excellence in manufacturing. Addressing the nation on Sunday, January 25, 2026, Modi asserted that Indian products must become synonymous with top-tier quality, urging manufacturers to adopt a "zero defect" approach.
Modi, in his 130th monthly radio program, broadcasted on Akashvani, called upon industries and startups to focus on setting excellence as the benchmark in the manufacturing sector. He encouraged a commitment to enhancing the quality of all products manufactured in India, be it textiles, technology, electronics, or packaging. The Prime Minister believes that achieving top quality is crucial for accelerating the nation's progress towards becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
Furthermore, Modi lauded the enthusiastic participation of young people in India's burgeoning startup ecosystem, which began a decade prior with the "Startup India" initiative in 2016. He noted with pride that India has emerged as the world's third-largest startup hub, driven by innovation and the dynamism of its youth. Indian startups, he highlighted, are now operating in diverse sectors previously considered unimaginable, including artificial intelligence, space exploration, nuclear energy, semiconductors, mobility, green hydrogen, and biotechnology. Modi saluted the young entrepreneurs who are venturing beyond their comfort zones to build and succeed in these varied fields.
The Prime Minister also reiterated his call for "Zero Defect, Zero Effect" manufacturing, emphasizing the importance of producing high-quality goods that also minimize environmental impact.
In addition to his focus on manufacturing and startups, Modi also spoke about National Voter's Day, celebrated on January 25th. He emphasized that a voter is the soul of democracy and encouraged young people to register to vote as soon as they turn 18, viewing it as both a privilege and a constitutional duty. He suggested that communities should celebrate this milestone for young voters to raise awareness about the importance of voting.
The "Mann Ki Baat" address also served as an opportunity for Modi to greet the nation ahead of Republic Day. He reflected on the significance of the day the Constitution came into effect, providing an opportunity to pay homage to the founding fathers.
Beyond these key themes, Modi touched upon the cultural significance of bhajans and kirtans in India and noted the rising popularity of "bhajan clubbing" among Gen Z, showcasing how the youth are incorporating devotion into their modern lifestyles. He also commended the Indian community in Malaysia for their efforts in preserving and promoting Indian culture, particularly through Tamil schools and cultural events.
The Prime Minister's address underscored the importance of quality, innovation, and civic responsibility as India continues its journey of growth and development.
