Bihar's 2030 Job Goal: Governor Khan Outlines Plan to Create One Crore Employment Opportunities.

Bihar is setting its sights on a significant boost in employment opportunities, with the state government prioritizing the creation of 1 crore jobs and employment prospects by 2030. This ambitious goal was emphasized by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who highlighted the Nitish Kumar government's commitment to this initiative.

The focus on job creation is not new. The state government has already made strides in this area. Under the 'Saat Nischay part-2' program, the government aimed to provide government jobs to 10 lakh youth and generate employment opportunities across the state. As of December 2025, 10 lakh youths have been provided with government jobs, and employment opportunities have been given to another 40 lakh people. This brings the total to 50 lakh jobs and employment opportunities provided in the state.

To further accelerate progress, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled 'Saat Nischay-3', a seven-point plan designed to boost Bihar's development by 2030. This plan focuses on several key areas, including jobs, industry, agriculture, education, and healthcare. A central goal of 'Saat Nischay-3' is to double employment opportunities and income for the state's residents. As part of this initiative, the government aims to double the state's per capita income. Women will receive ₹10,000 each under the CM's Women Employment Scheme, and successful entrepreneurs among them will get additional assistance up to ₹2 lakh.

The government is also focused on promoting industrial growth to create more jobs. Industries are planned to be established in all districts of the state, and youth will be skilled to enhance their employability. The Bihar government is planning to develop Bihar as a "tech hub" of eastern India and has approved an artificial intelligence mission to make it a leading state in the AI domain. To achieve these targets, dedicated committees have been formed. There are also plans for employment-oriented initiatives in the start-up domain to ensure livelihood opportunities for talented young entrepreneurs in the state.

Infrastructure development is also a key component of the employment strategy. The expansion of expressways and freight corridors will improve connectivity and give rise to warehousing hubs and logistics management jobs. Furthermore, the government is focusing on practical training through vocational institutes and incubation centers to equip the youth with skills in areas like AI, data analytics, and high-end manufacturing.

Nitish Kumar has asserted that Bihar will join the league of developed states by 2030. He stated that his government would fulfill all its development promises by 2030 and reiterated that providing jobs and employment to as many young people as possible is the government's priority. In January 2026, during his “Samriddhi Yatra” in Muzaffarpur, Kumar inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 853 crore, including new schemes, completed projects, and projects in progress.
