Bhushan Kumar and Anurag Singh Plan Extensive Future Projects After the Triumph of Border 2

Riding high on the success of "Border 2," producer Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Singh are reportedly planning a long-term collaboration. Their partnership has already yielded impressive results, with "Border 2" grossing ₹167 crore worldwide in its first three days and over ₹200 crore in its first extended weekend. The film, a spiritual sequel to the 1997 hit "Border," marks the first collaboration between Kumar, head of T-Series, and Singh.

In an interview, Bhushan Kumar expressed his excitement about the partnership and hinted at future projects. According to Kumar, he and Singh were initially developing another film before "Border 2" came into the picture. Now, with the success of "Border 2", they intend to revive that project. "We are doing a joint venture with his company and my company. He'll be directing, and it will be something new," Kumar stated, emphasizing that this venture would precede any work on "Border 3".

The immense love received by "Border 2", almost three decades after the original, has solidified the decision to move forward with the franchise. Bhushan Kumar has confirmed that "Border 3" will happen in due course. He credited Anurag Singh for his hard work in rebuilding the franchise and expressed confidence in its future. “Anurag has worked so hard to rebuild it. If you bring something back after almost 30 years and it is getting so much love, we will definitely take it forward,” Kumar said. "Border 3" will be a joint production between T-Series and JP Films, the production house of JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, though the director for the third installment is yet to be finalized.

Bhushan Kumar also shared his thoughts on the box office numbers of Border 2. The film has earned ₹180 crore net in India and ₹251 crore gross worldwide in just four days, including a ₹80-crore gross haul on Republic Day. "The numbers excite you because they show you not just the money, but how many people are watching and loving the film" said Kumar.

"Border 2" revisits themes of patriotism and wartime sacrifice, while updating the narrative for a contemporary audience. The film features Sunny Deol in the lead role, along with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The ensemble cast also includes Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana.
