Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' Inches Towards ₹250 Crore: Box Office Collection Drops on Day 6

Sunny Deol's war drama, "Border 2," is eyeing the ₹250 crore mark in India, although it has experienced a noticeable drop in weekday box office collections. After a strong opening weekend fueled by the Republic Day holiday, the film's earnings have begun to taper off.

On its sixth day, Wednesday, January 29, 2026, "Border 2" earned approximately ₹15.04 crore in India. This marks a slowdown compared to its first five days, bringing the total net India collection to ₹231.83 crore. According to Sacnilk, the film's Hindi occupancy rate on day six was 16.78% overall, with evening and night shows registering the highest attendance.

The film had a powerful start, with collections increasing daily over the long weekend: ₹32.10 crore on Friday, ₹40.59 crore on Saturday, ₹57.20 crore on Sunday, ₹63.59 crore on Monday and ₹23.31 crore on Tuesday. However, Wednesday's earnings indicate a cooling of audience enthusiasm after the initial surge. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and jointly produced by T-Series and J.P. Films.

Despite the weekday dip, "Border 2" has already crossed the ₹200 crore mark in India. Worldwide, the film has grossed ₹292.1 crore and is expected to surpass ₹300 crore soon. "Border 2" has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2026 so far, surpassing Telugu films "Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu" and "The Raja Saab".

Compared to other recent Republic Day releases, "Border 2" has outperformed titles like "Fighter" and "Sky Force" during their corresponding holiday periods. The film's performance is being closely watched to see if it can sustain its run and challenge previous blockbusters.

"Border 2" sees healthy competition with Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar". Despite the 35% fall in collections on Wednesday, "Border 2" maintains a strong hold, suggesting positive word-of-mouth and sustained audience interest. Regions contributing significantly to Wednesday's business include Jaipur, Chennai, Lucknow, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Chandigarh.

The movie has marked itself as the highest Hindi net grosser for Varun Dhawan, surpassing lifetime businesses of "Dilwale", "Judwaa 2", "Badrinath Ki Dulhania", and "ABCD 2".
